J. Swift
I’m J. Swift, a writer exploring power, desire, identity, and the quiet work of becoming. I write dark romance—stories that live in the tension between control and vulnerability, where intimacy is layered, complicated, and impossible to ignore.

My work lives at the intersection of reflection and intensity—whether on the page, on stage as a spoken word artist, or here on this blog. I’m especially interested in the stories we’re told to hide, and what happens when we choose to tell them anyway.
At the center of it all, I’m a Black woman building a life—and a body of work—where I can fully exist, create, and flourish.
This space is part journal, part creative lab, and part invitation. I love connecting with other writers and readers, so don’t be a stranger.
You can also explore my poetry collection, Monsters: Poetry on How to Bite Back.
